Curtain Delema

Oh woe is me. :(

So I bought these nice curtains, thinking, oh yeah, 84″ will be fine. Then i get home, and remember that I have 8′ ceilings, and my curtains are hung at the top because that’s where my window starts. But I really like them. And I really don’t want to have to take them back. They’re REALLY nice. I do have another problem besides the length though… If you notice on the picture, the wire that it’s hanging on sags. Like I said, they’re really nice curtains, and therefore heavy, and lined. So I’m looking for suggestions. Clearly to fix the wire problem, I’m looking at putting a rod up. Oh well, at least dad gets to play with his new toy drill. The length problem, well, not sure about that one. If I did lengthen it, it would be infront of my heater there. Not necessarily a bad thing heat wise, but I’m wondering if it’s a fire hazard? It’s hot water heat, so the heater doesn’t actually get that hot, so maybe not… hmm. Does the foot short look that funny? (It certainly looks less funny than the shower curtains I had up before (you can see one on the right side of the picture. They flared they were so short and light!) If I hang them a foot lower… on the rod that I’m going to have to put up, will that look too funny? Yeah, so any ideas..?

i don’t know much about curtains styles, but i don’t think that looks bad! if you wanted, maybe you could make it shorter so that it matches the length of the window a bit more closely? that would make the curtain lighter too! and you could make a matching…pillow or something. or curtain ties.

you could use the extra material and make a curtain for the peep-hole in your door.

you might still have some leftover though…

you could make a curtain for a painting, and people would think you have another window, and when you open it, there’s an elephant outside! or whatever your picture is…

  • I definately don’t want to crop them to the window, thanks anyways. I’m going to see what mum says.

…and I don’t have a peephole, but thanks for the idea. (maybe i should get one though…)

  • Mighty big curtains you got there, specially for that smallish window. You need a bigger font on here, its mighty small, like your window.

Maybe you should make the window bigger? I could help by renting a sledge hammer. :D

  • My window’s not small! It’s huge! I just have white blinds down half of it right now, to keep it cooler in the morning when the sun shines in. (and it looks purdy)

but a sledge hammer could be fun…

I’ll switch back to the original theme then, at least it’s more legible for you. And when I get a chance I’ll work on making it purdy, like my curtains.

  • Ah, I was wondering what that white thing was actually… I thought it was air conditioning…

You do change this site’s look a lot (three times since I started looking at it a couple of weeks ago…).
