New Camera!!!
Okay, Chicago finally convinced me that it is time for a new camera! hooray. (Okay, that raise I got, and the decision to wait another year before looking into condos/small house, oh, and money from Grandma all influenced the decision!) I haven’t taken any photos yet (charging batteries as we speak) but oh, they will be awesome. 10 megapixel, image stabilization, manual controls if i don’t want to use the presets, 3x optical zoom, etc. If you wanna google it, it’s the canon PowerShot SD 770 IS. The guy at Futureshop really recommended it, and it’s tiny, and aparently you can stand on a bridge in chicago that’s vibrating with cars, and take pictures in the dark and they will turn out and everything! Hooray. Can you tell I’m happy. Will be taking lots of Father’s Day pics tomorrow just to test it out.
Speaking of cameras, funny story. So on Mother’s Day, Grandma, A. Trev, Mum & I all went down to Georgetown to see my Great Grandma in the home. We played euchre (according to Great Grandma, all the people in the home are “old and stupid” and therefore don’t/can’t play… funny because she’s only 98 y/o.) Anyways, we played euchre, had pie, real (aka Tim Horton’s) tea, etc. Anyways, since there was 5 of us, Grandma decided to let me play while she takes photos with the new camera my parents got her for Christmas. So we play all afternoon, she thinks she’s taking absolutely wonderful shots… she’s not. In fact, she took several MOVIES instead. Most of the movies start with the picture she wanted to take… and then walking to the next shot, lining up, and that’s it. We get back to her place, she asks me if I can hook it up to the tv so she can see her shots, i say, “okay grandma, but you can see it right from the camera too!” to which she replied something along the lines of “no way!” so i show her… and then we realize the lack of pictures, and the abundancy of movies containing mostly walking. Oh Grandma. Since, she hasn’t used her camera for fears of it being on the video setting. Yes, I’ve shown her how to not have it on said setting.
Back to my camera. It is awesome. How I’m going to love non-blurry photos, that look the proper exposure even in dark rooms. The best part is, I still have some grandma $$ left over to buy something for my apartment (which having called her to tell her I spent the money on a camera, I found out that’s what I was supposed to spend money on — furniture, art, or some sort of fancy china to display)
Oh, I also bought a clock. It too is lovely. When the battery is charged, I will take a photo. Original $70, paid $25 including tax. Oh yeah.
Before I post my old camera on ebay, if anyone is interested, I’m selling the camera, cable, battery charger, two batteries (LI), and four (or is it five?) XD cards in various sizes i think most are around 512mb, and case, for oh, say $50, $60 if you want me to pay for shipping. Let me know soon! Like, before July! If you need details, it’s an Olympus Stylus 500, 5.0 mpx, no image stabilization, and doesn’t take good indoor photos. Well loved, a few scratches, but it still works fine, especially outdoors, and if you hold it real steady, it’s a great shot. Auto focus, 15min movies, bunch of presets, etc. Look @ chicago pics (in the .zip file, not the slideshow!) for examples. (I’d sell the camera, case, charger & batteries alone for $30, XD cards for $20)… If I don’t know you, then clearly I’m not going to make any deals. Unlikely that anyone actually reads this blog (unless they’re searching for Raly Jones) but just want to put this out there.
Hooray! Photos tomorrow!
