Random June ’08 Things

First things first, Father’s day! It went well. Realized just how old my grandparents are getting… even compared to mother’s day. Grandma has been randomly falling the way her sister (the one I’m named after) was right before she died, with no apparent cause, so they obviously can’t treat her for anything. The best they can do is to tell us that she’s not eating enough… which does explain a lot of her problems, but you can’t force feed an 88 year old woman. Anyways, back to father’s day. Jeff & I got Dad the same thing — Rona gift cards. Right colour, right size, it’s all good. Jeff beat me by $25, but in my defence, I spent $60 a shoppers to give dad $20 home depot money. (I needed antihistamines, toothbrush, & mascara so I was well on my way to $60 by that point) Father’s day was also the day after I got my new camera, which is fun, and my camera is awesome. I was going to take more photos, but I was pissing everyone off, so I decided it would be a good time to put the camera away. So not enough photos to make it worth while resizing & uploading.

Still selling my old camera & accessories for $50. Tell me soon, because I’m thinking by Wed. I’ll get mum to put it up on the board’s website for selling stuff.

Today we had a church picnic-y thing… but it was only Sunday School kids, their parents, and me. Was still fun though. Have some really cute pics. I’d show you, but some of their parents (ie they’re not all Joanna’s!) might think it’s weird to have their kids up on some choir member’s website.

  • Has your site always been this wide? Hmmm… maybe it has. You could put the photos on Picasa or flikr and then you would not have to worry about resizing, you could just link to the album…

  • It has always been this wide… did you get a wider monitor? It’s dynamic…

I could, but as I said, some parents might think it’s weird, at least for the church photos. And with the quality of my new photos comes HUGE filesizes, so I’m thinking I’ll just not, because I’d run out of space anyways. (Not to mention it takes what, like 3 minutes to go through a few dozen photos if you automate the resizing, and it’d probably take twice that long to upload all the photos onto Picasa or Flikr

  • Nah, picasa is good for that, you could also make the album private if you only want to share them with your parents… as for batch resizing images, I think I will finish my post on that soon…

  • So you’re for or against batch resizing? If I’m just posting them up here, I don’t mind the batch. (and I like the idea of having them on my server, so I always know where they are, and what else is being stored with them.)

  • Well, with the right tools I am for it… check out the post.

  • If I have to… :P

…after reading your clever post, I’d have to agree with you… at least as far as Phatch goes. I use Microsoft Picture Manager though most of the time… it’s pretty good at batch processing things quickly, but I’ve found you really have to do your math if you want pictures of different orientations done in the same batch. (Pain in the ass, but I don’t have to do it often!)
