My Dad is now using WordPress

Sure, I talked him into it… but I’m still thinking “oh dear god!” He knows absolutely no html/php/css/etc. but in his mind it’s “that’s okay; Kristel does and she works for me and will make it look the way I want.” I will, not complaining, but it’s still kinda funny because he tells me what he wants, and then I don’t quite get what he’s asking for, because he doesn’t understand himself. (As in, he needs to be an artist to draw me a picture, because telling me you want a 3d teal third bar on the right somewhere around top, maybe stuck there as you scroll… um, what? I’ll figure it out, or make him think he wants it the way I do it. Pick one.) I’m just glad he’s discovered WordPress themes, and what images to edit actually. Means I don’t have to do anything, and he can keep it up himself. (And he’s not quite so web programming illiterate as I might’ve thought!) I suppose I should give him a cheap plug now — http://scouter.ca

Grandma & my Great Aunt Glenice both ended up in the hospital last week. The two are sisters in case you missed it. Anyways… Aunt Glenice has been spacing out (more so than Home Depot man… Speaking of random men I’ve named for a place of work or residence, what happend with Halifax man?) turns out she has pnemonia and the crones disease isn’t helping. Not the point. So her son takes her into emerge that day, she’s admitted within the hour. Still not the point. A few hours later, my grandma falls in Sears. She’s hobbling, my Auntie Trev notices, and manages to talk Grandma into going to the ER. (After going home, packing her bags just in case, cancelling that hair appointment in the event that she’s not out by then… Only woman in the world who shows up at the ER with her bags packed that’s not in labour.) Turns out she’s broken her kneecap. Vertically, not horizontally, which aparently equals no surgery, just a brace. So they eventually admit her… and put her in the same room as Aunt Glenice. How bizarre is that?! Different last names, they didn’t tell anyone her sister was in, nothing. As an update since then, Aunt Glenice is doing slightly better, and they’ve moved my grandma to a different hospital for a few weeks to get her working with an occupational therapist.

Watched two of Joanna’s kids today. They’re fun, but both have colds and the youngest, 4yo, was grumpy, and didn’t have an attention span more than 10 minutes, and he’s not so good at entertaining himself. But we got through it. Thank goodness for vintage games like Pizza Party.

This evening I also got most of Michelle’s Christmas present done. I still have to back it with cork, but then I’ll be done. Still trying to figure out what I can send to Marisa in Korea that will not only cross customs, but be small enough that you can shove it anywhere in a suitcase for the way back. All I’ve got so far is a postcard, and an idea to hold on for next year. (*looks for on lookers* shh… don’t tell michelle, i made coasters! i’d show you a picture, but i’m thinking of taking one big photo of all the gifts i make this year and then show them off once everyone’s gotten theirs)

I’ve been using my 360 a little more… but I dunno. Does anyone else have problems with random crashes? The older (supposedly backwards capatable) standard xbox games I kinda get. It’s running on an emulator, built by microsoft, so yeah. But the brand new 360 game? I don’t get it. Jeff’s had his replaced twice now, but he spent a lot of time on the phone with them. At least DDR should annoy my scary neighbour sufficently.

Thinking I’m going to go play some PC games now, or maybe Ticket to Ride with myself. I dunno. (okay, my sick sick mind has just clued in on how wrong ticket to ride with myself sounds… too lazy to backspace, too explanitory to stop explaining — Ticket to Ride is a board game, it’s fun, go out and get it. get it now!)

Oooh, Pizza Party. My brother and I had endless fun with that game. And I don’t think we ever knew the rules!

also – I think that’s the wrong link for your dad…

wait- on closer inspection that is him!

i just got confused because the latest post is from Diane Hilborn.

    My bad.

  • Update your 360′s firmware ;) . He is not hosting his blog, he is letting wordpress.com do it? That is good news for you, you don’t have to fix anything if it breaks.

  • I think my dad does all the posting, but he gets letters & things from people they want on the site, and I don’t blame you for forgetting how much my dad is into scouting (and that he’s area commissioner.)

My 360′s firmware is up to date. (I’m not completely useless at problem solving) He is letting wordpress do it — in his mind “it was easier” Like you said, it’s good news for me, so I didn’t tell him any cons to having them do it! ;)
