I’ve Got It!

What’s more fun than a photography contest?! Maybe naming a sock monkey, but this certainly gives us more creativity… Sort of. I considered giving you all free reign, but then the thought occured to me that if I pick themes, then we can keep this going for a while, or at least until you’re all sick of it.

So here’s how it’s going to work:

  1. You’ll need to register for my blog, if you’re not Gavin or Conrad. Your default role is “subscriber” I will change it asap to “author” so that you can do step 2. Please keep in mind that if you do something stupid, not that I expect you will, this privilege will be taken away. You can register by clicking the “Register” button to the right and down a bit, or you can just click here.
  2. Create a new post, taged under “Contest Entry”, and only “Contest Entry”, please and thank you. Anything NOT posted under “Contest Entry” will not be considered actually entered for the contest, and will be deleted.
  3. Do us a favour, title the post appropriately. Then you just need to tell us about your photo, if you want, I guess.
  4. Before you hit the “Publish” button, upload your photo, insert it into the post. Please, when uploading, since we don’t want problems of overlapping filenames, and then you overwriting the person’s before, title in the following format: Name – MMDD – Title.jpg (or .gif, or .png… etc.) Shortening, or abbreviating your title’s fine, along with first names only. So if I were to upload one tonight, acceptable filenames would be: kristel-0515-sometitle.jpg or kris-0515-st.jpg.
  5. Once the submission deadline hits, I’m thinking like a week, I’ll set up the poll and create a “Current Contest” page and link to those in the current contest to make it easy on you.
  6. Once the winner’s decided, I’ll send out your prize! (For realz this time)

As an after thought… Submission guidlines might be important, eh?

  • Your photo doesn’t need to be child friendly, but please no coarse language, violence, & sexual content.
  • No one/thing should be harmed in the process
  • If you’re taking a photo of someone else, get their permission first. I don’t think we need to go as far as legal documents, but a “Yes, you can use my photo” conversation should be sufficient.
  • Obviously it has to be in by the deadline
  • Even more obviously, it MUST be your own work.
  • Must apply to the theme — you can explain how in your post if it’s a little vague.

Got it? Now, ready, set go!… wait I haven’t given you your idea yet. I’ll do that in another post.
