Ikea Visit

You will all be happy to know, I bought a new bookshelf! Yes, that means I can put all the stuff on the old one, on the new one. Yes, it’s also big enough for the games. Yes, I can now put the pop single file instead of tower-style. Yes, it’s freakin’ heavy, even more so than the old one — without the doors that go on it. I’m pretty impressed with my doors though. Two glass ones for the top, and two solid for the bottom… so if the games aren’t stacked neatly, who the heck cares, because you won’t see them!

In addition to the bookshelf, I also spent soooo much more money — thankfully, I’ve finally been paid for the month of June, it was just a couple weeks late… and that tax return helped too. Anyways, if you’ve seen my old night stand, at least closely, you’d notice it’s proped up at the front, the bottom drawer is broken, oh, and something is stuck at the back which I can’t get to because the bottom drawer is broken… did I mention that drawer is broken?! So I bought a new one. I didn’t buy the one that matches my bed though — it looked too short for my new matress, which is so high, my old nightstand, which is taller than the one that matched, is too short. We’ll see how this new one stacks up. Not returning it though, unless it’s broken, because it’s freakin’ heavy too.

Also, got a sweet deal on fabric. $3.99 a yard for canvas! I’m making new curtains. They’re green and yellow and white, and match my bedding. Kristel == Happy. (by the way, everywhere else I’ve looked, at premade curtains are like $45 and up for one pannel. Ikea was around that for two… but since the fabric was so cheap, I spent under $25. I have to make them, but considering I’ve been up at the crack of dawn with the sun, it’ll happen. soon. faster than I shut off the night light when I find out Joanna’s kids have been playing with it and it’s on. Have you seen that thing?! It’s sooo bright. I don’t know why I don’t hide that thing. Probably because they enjoy watching the green sparkles. And they’re quiet when they do that. Am I still in a bracket…?)

As a final purchase comment, I’ll save you the details on the rest… thank god I got paid… I bought a lampshade for $6! It’s green, and lovely. And aparently the hole is too big. So I wrestled with my already-destroyed lampshade (the dragonfly one, the blue one’s still good) and took out its hole, and glued it to the new lampshade’s hole. It should work. I think I bent it a little out of shape, but as long as I can get it on without it falling off, I’ll be golden. Just checked — glue’s dry, it fit’s on, it works. Ha! So fun. I’d take a photo, but I’m exhausted from bringing up that heavy bookshelf… thank goodness gavin and I didn’t go to the ikea closest to ptbo and then carried it home… but I think we’d be smarter than that. Not smart enough to take the bus aparently, but certainly smart enough not to go hours away to ikea and then walk home.

Tomorrow going to finish up my spring cleaning — all that’s left is my desk, the vacuuming, and ironing the last couple sets of sheets. Oh, and putting together the new bookshelf & nightstand. Great. So maybe I wont’ get finished. We’ll see.

Crap, straightened the lamp, and now the glue’s off, and it’s crooked, and too hot to fix now. I’ll try to fix it tomorrow. No more screwing with it tonight.
