My Dad Has Discovered Joomla!

…which mostly I think is good news. I don’t know how to use it, but I’m thinking if the guy who turned him on to it can use it, so could a monkey. And since I’m at least as smart as a gorilla, and they’re smarter than monkeys, I should be good to go. ;) He heard about it yesturday, and I think I have 387 emails from him about how awesome he thinks it is, and what he wants me to do with it. (oh, and let’s not forget the phonecalls.) If we’re lucky, I can get it to do what he wants, which I’m thinking I can do without the luck. And without Joomla if he asked (which he wouldn’t.)

Michelle and I saw Harry Potter. On the whole, I thought it was good. But not reading the books for a year didn’t help me from missing mistakes/changes/stuff they left out. It didn’t really affect the storyline though. Some kid was crying just after Dumbledore died. Michelle and I got in an argument as to why he was crying. She said it was because Dumbledore is dead. I said it was because he was scared. Let’s face it, I’m right. 6 year-olds just are not capable of understanding death to feel that sad, in that moment, over the death of a fictional character. Plus, he wouldn’t be crying, “Mommy, let’s leave”. Come on now, you know I’m right. Anyways, back to HP. Vicky helped convince me to read HP in German so I could keep up my German (which is definately slipping) Not easy to find in Canada or the States online. I did it, but it took 2 hours to find a halfway decent price, and I had to get the last 3 from the states. It better help! I did visit some of the magazine websites she sent me to to read online. I don’t know why there is all these royals in the tabloids, all I know is that I don’t know who any of them are or what countries they’re even from.

On an importing RCT tracks note, I’m into the F’s. In case you missed it, that’s just over 1000 I’ve gone through. (man I need a new hobby. Thankfully, this does cut down on my reading time, which I’ve been told is freakishly too much.) Not all of them were compatable, but definately the majority are. The tracks I originally got from one of my brother’s friends has no imagination, though. Nearly all his tracks were laid out the same, and all were painted brown with green cars. Oh, and numbered. He didn’t even give him a name. no wonder Jeff isn’t friends with him anymore lol

Do you think I eat hippy food? Michelle said I did. Because I had omega-3 eggs, and organic juice, and I bought alfalfa sprouts for my sandwich. I’d like to point out that the organic juice was on sale for cheaper than the regular juice, sprouts are really not that weird, and I didn’t have time to get the farm-fresh eggs, so I bought the ones at the store with the best expiry date. I didn’t think it was that weird though. I mean, we did have chicken, rice, & veggies for dinner. Which is normal. Oh, and chili the night before. Also normal.

On the note of Michelle, our visit was pretty good. We didn’t successfully combine Carcasonne & Scategories, but maybe that’s because we were trying to combine a timed, word game with a as-much-time-as-you-need, strategy game. Tried to teach her Munchkin. She didn’t get it. I tried to get to the point in Prince of Persia on the Wii to show her how to defeat the area guy because she isn’t getting it. I think she’s jumping the gun and trying to start the speed kill too soon, or more likely, when he does grab you the second time, she doesn’t wait long enough for the speed kill then to get out of it. We almost made it to the area, but her Mom arrived early… like on Friday. She told me sometime between 1 & 3 on Friday, and was here at noon. I was in a meeting. Not my fault though.

I think that’s it for today. Tomorrow, Kristel plays with Joomla. Maybe I’ll use as an excuse to work on my homepage during work hours, since I don’t work on it after.

I’m sure that the kids was upset because of the combo of things. At 6 he’s definitely old enough to know what’s going on – 3 or 4 I think is when most kids start to develop that part of their brain.

I’m excited for you to be using Joomla! Maybe you should do a bit of research though between Joomla & Drupal, to see which one you like better? Like NASA, the UN some of Obama’s new stuff all use Drupal, but joomla is (I think?) older and quite popular as well. Either one I’m sure would make you a happier programmer!

Omega 3 eggs are totally not hippy – they are into more natural stuff like farm-fresh free-range eggs. But wait, that was your preference too :p

I want to try growing my own sprouts, it looks easy and cool.

I think we’re going to get like 100 tomatoes. I think we’re already at like 25 and not all the plants have fruit yet!
