I Am Officially a Cub Leader!
Diane’s gone through and made all the appropriate reference calls, and my PRC has gone through, and I’m good to go! All I have to do now is pick up a uniform (in Brampton!! – Kitchener’s is closed until after I have be in uniform… for things like registration night), be a responsible adult, possibly take a first aid course, oh, and learn how to keep the cubs from knowing that they seriously outnumber us and could take us all down if they just banded together… of course, that would go against the wolf cub law to respect the old wolf, but they might conveniently forget that if need be.
Fixed the title of my last post… can’t believe I put owner. If I was an owner, I wouldn’t be living in this apartment. I’d be living in a house!
Did my laundry today. Did a whole 3 loads. Got down while two were still running, moved the first to dryer. The moved on to taking out second load (which had by then finished.) Lady comes in and starts bitching that people are never down in time to take their clothes out of the washer *and starts moving my stuff from the third out!* Am I invisible?! So I say, excuse me (in a very offended tone), I was down early, and it takes time to move three loads… there’s currently two empty washers and about to be two more if you would just be patient. She stopped touching my clothes, but didn’t appologize, didn’t even turn red… annoyed, and insulted — Obiviously I’m invisible and she stopped emptying the washer on a whim.
My parents are somewhere in Alberta right now. They’re staying at Lake Louise Inn, so I’m assuming that when Dad took this photo, they were at Lake Louise.

At least I hope he took it… it’s kinda grainy like when he normally takes photos from his blackberry, but who knows.
I ordered the HP books in German online. Searched for several hours to find the best price for each book, which is tricky because several I had to get from the states and had to add in the exchange rate. Not the point. The point is, through Amazon, I ordered the first 3 books from one seller. They had 90% positive feedback the past month, I figured no problem. They shipped books 2 & 3 from England… which arrived a week late. The first, I find out on the invoice in the box with the others, is being shipped separately from the US. It hasn’t arrived, and it has been another week. Isn’t the States closer than England? Anyways, so I go back to their sellers page, and they’ve gone downhill these past two weeks. Seriously. All sorts of people have been told a week after ordering that their book isn’t in stock and are recieving a refund, and then there is still more who are recieving the book they ordered *in the wrong language* How can you screw that up?! The books have two different ISBN’s for the two different numbers. I will be very angry if it arrives here in English. It’s not like my english copies are anywhere near good shape that I could justify replacing them, but it’s really not in the budget for me to buy another set of HP books this month, english or not! Oh, and there’s tons of people, like me, who are recieving their orders 1, 2, 3+ weeks late. I’m just a little worried… I’d also like to point out, that if I chose to return the book, I still have to pay for shipping, not only to return it, but from when they sent me in the first place… even if it is the wrong one. They better not screw this up, because they’re at a 3/5 at the moment (it’ll be 2 weeks late officially if it hasn’t arrived by Monday)
The construction at the corner is driving me nuts. They’re supposed to be done by Monday, but it is an absolute mess, so I don’t have much confidence in that. The corner I’m talking about is the weird 5 interection one at the beginning of my street. (Norfolk/Suffolk, Paisley/Quebec, and of course, Yarmouth) Our street and Baker have been made into two way for the time being, and it’s really not fun. At least I have the car… I think. On Tuesday it was my Grandma’s 80th birthday so we went over to Auntie Trev’s & Uncle Ron’s for a mini-celebration. They live a maximum of a 10 minute drive away if I didn’t have that intersection problem of course, oh, and if you get all the green lights and good traffic, you can do it in 5. I did however, have intersection and traffic problems. It took me half and hour to get there. Not only did I have to go the long way around, but a train was going by, and being shuffled on the tracks, so had to wait then, and after that, someone’s tree had fallen into the road when they were doing landscaping so there was traffic guys out there letting the lanes go one at a time through. Wasn’t happy, but I couldn’t go right — that would lead me back towards the construction, and if I went left I’d just hit the train again, so had to sit that out too. They better be done Monday.
I think that’s it. Maybe I’ll put my laundry away.
***Update*** That’s not Lake Louise. Apparently too many people were at Lake Louise, so they went to this other, less famous, lake beside it somewhere.
OH AND OMG I’M MISSING A PART FOR MY TELESCOPE!!! There’s talk of doing astronomy with the kids, so I thought, hey, I have a telescope, that could be fun if we do it on a night near the full moon. So tonight’s a full moon. I figured I’d set it all up to make sure I still remembered how and which lenses work best for viewing the moon, and OMG, I’m missing the part that connects the focusing lens to the diagonal mirror/viewing lenses. And I know *exactly* where I lost that part. I took the telescope out ONCE at university. First year, it was middle of exams, stupid roommate had weird boyfriend who dumped her and decided he was gay which was fine because she decided he was smothering her from 4 hours away, not the point… Marisa, Michelle, Shelaugh and I all went out behind OC to where the DNA building just stands. Anyways, it was freezing cold, we had our mittens on and obviously not fans of the great beyond, soon complained about being cold, so I packed up in a hurry, and must’ve dropped that ring. If I didn’t drop that ring there, I must’ve in my dorm room, so that makes it gone with my baptism necklace. I am sad.
without that part, my telescope is pretty much useless. And unfortunately, I can’t seem to find a manufacturer’s website to buy said part. I can however, buy the telescope again, used, from someone in London, ON for $25. Not sure if that’s worth it, considering I lost the part nearly 6 years ago and didn’t notice until now.
***UPDATE 2!!!!*** I found it!!! On a whim, checked in old purse that I’ve never used, and guess what, it was there. I don’t know why I looked there, or why it would be there in the first place, but it is. Hooray!
awesome that you found that part!!!! crazy! i just found my housekeys today (missing for 2 days) in the glove box of the car
i am sorry about that woman in the laundry. HOW RUDE!! seriously, she has no excuse ESPECIALLY if there were other empty washers!
good luck with your scouts!
