There’s a Mud Dauber in my Window!

See? (For those of you who don’t know, a Mud Dauber is a type of wasp.) I suppose it’s not *that* big, but it is about an inch long. It’s stuck inbetween the screen and the window… I had the window open, it flew onto the screen, and it seemed the better idea to trap it, than to try and squish it on the screen. Plus it’s very fast, and flies, and I don’t like bugs, especially the stingy kind. I’m not sure how it got in my apartment in the first place, but I suppose it could be worse. I mean, there could be two that got in here. I did some research, and they generally don’t sting, but they can. And this one must be pretty pissed off at being stuck, so letting it out seems like a bad idea. It’ll get tired/hungry/etc. and die eventually, right? and it’s pretty hot, so Ihave my a/c running, so windows are now closed. It can’t seem to get out though. If it was my bedroom window, it’d have no problem getting out (there’s a really big gap) but apparently this window’s not so easy.
On a side note, my German HP book 1 hasn’t arrived yet. I am sad. I’m thinking I’ll wait just a few more days before emailing the people — they seem to be getting a lot of emails from disappointed people lately, and getting more and more pissy with their replies, so the longer i wait, the more legit my complaint will be, and more likely that I won’t care if they don’t answer back friendly. Still, it’s coming from the US, and that’s closer than the UK where they shipped the other two from.
They haven’t finished the construction. They were supposed to have by today, but they released a notice saying it’s been extended until 6pm tomorrow. I don’t plan on going out between now and then, but you never know. I need blue pants for scouting, and I’m thinking that this is the Back-To-School season for sales, so buying it now would be happy, but then I think, Sales will still be on this weekend, so it could all be good.
Bought a sleeping bag yesturday. It’s good for -5. I’m thinking that at this age, they don’t really do winter camping outdoors, and if they do, I can always bring another blanket, or they will tell us we need a warmer one if it’s going to be -20, in which case I can justify having 2 sleeping bags, because let’s face it, our camping will mainly be done in early fall/late spring, so having a very warm sleeping bag could be, well, very warm, far too warm to sleep in.
sadness on the HP book! But it might still come! I think USPS is good within the states, but crazy things happen when you’re trying to ship Canada/US or US/Canada.
I hope it’s in your mail tomorrow
I hope so too!!!
I broke down and sent them a friendly email tonight. (My patience is running thin!) At least I hope it was friendly. I stated my order number, the date I ordered, and that on the invoice I recieved with the previous two books it stated the third was coming from the us. And asked, using please, for an estimate on its arrival and/or a tracking number. And then I said thank you and wished them a nice day. So really, it was just the facts, minus the fact that they’re late, and using please and thank you. Which I think makes it nice.
I hope the books are as much fun in German as in English… or this might not be worth it… unless it does improve my German, and then it totally will, even if it kinda sucks. Don’t think I’ll be breaking any [personal] records though for how fast I get through them, though.
It’s too bad that mud dauber is still in my window though. Afraid to open it.
USPS is good, it’s when it hits Canada Post that things go downhill. In fact, when anything hits Canada Post things go downhill. I sent Vicky’s Christmas Card, and it came back to me instead of going on to Germany! That reminds me, I really should put that in the mail! Sorry Vicky! (I keep restarting that long letter I was working on, and it just never gets done! I think I’ll bring it along when I go to pick up my parents from the airport, and work on it while waiting in the car.)
I hope you’ll get the Harry Potter book soon! If not, I could also send you one, if you don’t mind it to be a paperback. I mean someone’s birthday is soon
I’m sure you will have fun, eventhough reading German might be a bit hard at the beginning, but at least you know the story and what the words should tell, so you should be fine.
Don’t worry about the Christmas card
The bug really looks scary…I had a bee today and it wouldn’t want to fly out, even as the window was open without any net or so. Well, I should get to sleep (I start writing German in between so that’s the indicator for me being tired
) Good night!
The one I ordered was paperback, and used I think. I got feedback from them today though, and they have confirmed that the order has been dispatched to their US office (whatever that means!) and I’m to wait another week before complaining!
I think it’ll be hard at first too. Considering in investing in a good dictionary.
I haven’t been worrying about the card, and I think that’s the problem! lol
I still feel bad about that though.
I think the bug is dead… and inbetween the window and the screen still. Do you think it can still sting after it’s dead? I think I’ll wait a few more hours just to be safe.
Hope you had a good night! I was up at 5am… woke up and looked over at my fan and for those first few moments would’ve sworn it was Dobby. you know you’re obsessed when…
haha! one time gavin thought our fan was a giant owl.
