It’s been almost two weeks
…so I should probably post something.
Scouting’s started. We had our leaders meeting last Monday, and will have our first pack meeting this coming Monday. We have a whole potential 3 kids! Hooray. I’m pretty excited. I hope it goes well… and we get some more kids. But being my usual self, a little pessimistic about us having more than 10 kids by year end. Hopefully I’m wrong. My cub name is Chil. (That’s the kite (a bird) in the Jungle Book) I have a lot of responsibility though… too nice I think, certainly I was the only who felt guilty for not saying anything and then volunteered for a position. So now I’m Pack Treasurer, and secretary. Lot of work, but I should be okay.
I had my first puppy obedience class this week. I say, “my” because Pepper wasn’t allowed at the first one. It was more of an intro class. We got a clicker, and have now started clicker training. I’m not sure Pepper totally gets the connection, but we now play “Fetch” instead of “Keep Away” which in my mind is much more fun.
I can’t wait until she’s a little older — the teething phase will have passed, and she won’t have to go out for a potty run every 3 hours. She’ll be 3 months old on Monday. I’d throw a party, but then I’d have to leave for cub meeting, so not so fun for me. Maybe my Puppy Sitter, aka Conrad, will throw her one. If Mom would’ve let him, I’m sure we would’ve gone home from the breeder’s with two puppies just so he could have one. Maybe Pepper’s cuteness will wear her down and then he can get a puppy.
Jeff’s talking about getting a puppy now. But he’s thinking a bigger dog, which I think would suit him well, especially because he has a yard. Definately going to call the bank and make an appointment to see about my budgeting/pre-authorizing mortgage soon so Pepper can have a yard… but I don’t think that’s in my budget, yet. Maybe if I got a condo, and sold it when the market was better in a couple years, then we could move into a house. But that could be wishful thinking.
Jeff’s watching Pepper tomorrow morning. Mom’s been trying to talk him into watching Pepper at her house, instead of my house, because it’s easier to take her out. Jeff, however, is adamant about coming here. Why? Because I have video games. I can’t say I blame him. I’m not even sure they have the dvd player hooked up. Anyways, Jeff’s watching Pepper tomorrow am because I’m going to the knitter’s fair. I know that doesn’t sound exciting to most of you, but I’m totally psyched! It’s one of the biggest fairs in Canada, and I can’t wait!!! I wish we could stay from 9am to 4pm, but a) Jeff can’t come before 9, and b) he has a 1:30 tee-off time… so we can’t. But that might be a good thing… at least I’ll keep on task and make sure I find the yarn I’m looking for instead of wandering around the whole fair and then decide on what I want and go through it again.
I’m sewing a fanny pack for puppy class. She said we needed one… Apparently it’s easier for holding all the treats, toys, and other puppy paraphernalia. I’m using a pattern I found on Craftster, tweeking it of course for my needs. I think I will put one button and leave one off the other side… will post a photo when I’m done. I’ve done all the cutting, it’s just time for the sewing now.
Not finished Michelle’s scarf yet. But at least I haven’t had any errors in 10+ repeats. So that’s good news. I also found out the scarf is puppy proof. She gets her little teeth around it and pulls like there’s no tomorrow, and it didn’t even drop a stitch, tear, or felt on me! I’m impressed. Maybe I won’t tell Michelle how Pepper tried to help, though.
Started the blanket I was making. I’m trying to make the inner star a different colour… but the switch begins with a yarn over — no good, so I’m thinking of doing the first stitch on either side and the yarn over with the two strands together… at least I think so. I’m not sure it’d hold if I just did the yarn over with the two strands held together, so I’ll have to do something…. at least it won’t be for the majority of the quilt. I had to start over though. I forgot to do the even rows… so obviously it didn’t look right.
Have several other knitting projects lined up. Will they be done for when I want them? Probably not. Will they be done eventually? Um, some, yes. Most, yarn probably used for something else that caught my fancy. Bought this nice bamboo yarn for a sweater, but I’m now thinking of doing something else with it… mittens maybe, or mittens and scarf, or mittens, scarf, and hat if I have enough yarn. and I might. I have 5 balls. If I can squeeze mittens and hat out of two balls, then I’ll certainly have enough left for the scarf… if it takes 3 balls… well, we’ll have to make a cowl.
Have to clean my house for Jeff to be here tomorrow. Wouldn’t be surprised if he goes through my drawers, closets, etc. while I’m out. I’d be offended, but I’d probably do the same in his house, so we’re even. So I probably should get to cleaning since it’s 4pm, and Pepper’s still sleeping.
*update* whoops! Meant to post the pic of Pepper having a bath! Hilarious, at least I think it is! Well, not that she had to have the bath in the first place, but her actually having a bath. She definately is not very happy with me at that moment.

She looks so sad…
