Oh German Audiobook

Decided to download a German Audiobook tonight. HP is going so slow that I’m starting over and just ignoring the words I don’t know and pray that I manage to get through the book with enough understanding of what went on in the previous chapter. So thought that an audiobook might just help with the comprehension, and certainly with my pronounciation (which is terrible.) So went to Audible.com’s sister German site, found a book that was way too easy to read in English here, but still old enough that I won’t be throwing it across the room in utter boredom. (I’m thinking that’d be a bad thing to do with my iPod.) It wasn’t easy signing up for an account in German (took a few phonecalls to figure out what Ost. and Plz. were actually asking for… if I’m lucky, we didn’t get them mixed up… City and Postal code in that order, right?) Didn’t read the terms and conditions and whatever that first checkmark was for… there were so many big words, and my understanding of the first paragraph was limited to “und”, “das” and “deine” I did read the English site’s version though, and I’d agree to those. Eventually found the download manager… erm, went to the English site downloaded it there very promptly, and managed to download the files, and it’s syncing! The english ones work on my ipod, so hopefully the German will too (I don’t see why it wouldn’t.) All in all, I think it took me 40 minutes, and it’s taken another 20 just to get rid of the remaining frustration.

In other news, my Christmas knitting is out of control. My Dad requested a scarf, and so Mom doesn’t feel left out, I’m knitting her some fingerless gloves. Plus there’s 3 dog coats (only 1 for Pepper) so the three “cousins” can have matching coats and be sickeningly cute… I really hope the big one fits Roxy. She’s halfway inbetween a lab and a collie. I also have to finish the blanket I’m knitting, Michelle’s scarf, the celestine stuffed toy star thing, and a shawl. Oh man. Well, the last three not a chance of being done, the blanket, well, probably not, The coats? maybe, the scarf, absolutely, and Mom’s, sure. Oh man.

Work’s still busy, nothing more to say there. Scouting’s done for the season. I’m glad because I had to get Pepper into a groomer’s and the only place I could get her in before Christmas was at 6pm on Monday night, a time I couldn’t make it back to Guelph for Cubs in time for, and since she was the only one left with a spot before Christmas, she also happens to be on the other side of Cambridge, I can’t find any reviews, and I don’t even know how much this will cost, how good a job she will do, and if she’s going to be sedating my dog or not. Honestly, it was the only place we could get her in, and now Mom’ll be off my back about having a scruffy looking dog (even though I brush her every day) so I’m thinking it’ll be worth it. Do you think it’s cash only? Sassy never had to go to the groomers…

Don’t really have much else to say. All that stress of dealing with a foreign language that I’ve mostly lost my comprehension of has worn me out. Is it too early for bed?
