At least things have started to get interesting
I had another house viewing tonight. It was in the neighbourhood by my Auntie Trev. It was actually pretty nice. I’m going to have to paint that pink room before it becomes my office or guest room though. Waaay too pink. The floors need either a good cleaning/replacing, but it’s such a good price, and the kitchen is in such good condition that I won’t have to spend money on that. The basement floor is also properly insulated so we could have a killer rec room down there… you know, after you put in the pub table, some nice floors, the stereo, ooh, maybe a bar…
What was I talking about? Oh yes…
We’ve booked a second viewing. Taking Mom to go with us this time for her take; and of course the second viewing also takes longer, but we want to know what I’m getting before we get into negotiations. (That looks weird, did I spell that right? I think so…) The appliances are negotiable, but we’re going to use Stan the Realtor Man’s approach: Ask for $5,000 lower, see if they do it with appliances, if not, we drop them and see if they’ll still give us the price.
Pepper goes in for her spay tomorrow. So she’s off food now, and when I get up tomorrow, no water. Should go well, I think they’re going to phone me when they’re done just to tell me. She stays the night and I pick her up Wednesday. Working at Dad’s tomorrow, and when I get home, I plan to do some cleaning that I couldn’t normally do with Pepper here — such as taking down the Christmas tree. The ornaments are off and packed away properly though. Pepper just doesn’t like the loud noises or the scraping of the box as I shove it on the top shelf. At least this year I get to tape the hell out of the box and worry about how to put it away next year… or how to get it out. I’m glad I kept the boxes for the glass doors on my bookshelf. I’m debating whether to take the doors off for moving, or leave them on, tape the box over to keep them safe, and let them deal with moving it. “Them” would be the movers.
Dad’s insisting on my hiring movers. The point that when I said I have people I can beg to move me for free if all I do is buy the truck because I helped them move and they already offered, he still said no, and he’d pay for the movers. I wonder if I can beg for help packing? Like the kitchen? or somehow shoving all my yarn into one bucket? Or the stuff in the entertianment unit? Actually, the games are already packed — I didn’t unpack them from Christmas, well except for Assassin’s Creed 2, but I got that for Christmas and there’s no way I could’ve waited any longer.
Did I tell you I Pepper-proofed the garbage? Yep, I did. The solution? A can with a lid. Oh yeah, Pepper doesn’t get into it now, she doesn’t even go in the bathroom. It’s a lot easier just to vacuum than have to pick up all the garbage she destroyed even further in the last ten minutes and then vacuumed.
Time to play fetch, I clearly no longer have a choice in the matter. (she’s standing on me and squeeking her toy)
Sounds like an awesome place Kristel!!!! You must be so excited!!
I am! I’m very excited, I’m having a hard time containing it! We haven’t made an offer yet, and if we get to negotiations and it doesn’t go well, then I’ll have to keep looking, not to mention someone could make an offer first and I don’t want to get so hung up on the house that I end up going way over budget, so maybe I shouldn’t be this excited… but it’s not wearing off!
On a side note, Pepper’s surgery is now over. She did well, but they’re trying to get her to just chill and take it easy, and apparently that part isn’t so easy
Yay Pepper!! And can you really turn down movers if someone else is paying? Just make sure you pack things really well, since movers care way less than you do if something breaks!
Nope! That’s why I’m not turning it down, which I think was his intention.
That’s what I’m worried about too. I’d steal a bunch of newspapers to wrap my dishes in, but if I get a house that doesn’t have a dishwasher… that’s a lot of dishes to wash! I wonder if I could pack my linens and dishes together, so then everything would stay clean and safe, and then worse case scenario is that I have to iron some things first. (Or if I’m lucky, Mom’ll iron things first.)
