Since my last post, several big things have happened.  The largest of them all was my Great Grandma passing away.  She was just 2 days after her 99th birthday.  I will miss her dearly, and not just for her peanut butter balls.  I could go into a lot about stories I remember, and what she’s done in her lifetime, and all the awards she won, but I won’t.  Like when Grandma Ursula died, I still think it’s tacky to go on a huge RIP speech on a blog.  So I won’t.  I’ll just leave it at I love her, I’ll miss her, and I know she’s happy where ever she is right now.

Second big thing was Tina announced to me that she sees me as Akela next year!  Ok, for those of you who don’t know how cubs works, Akela is the head of the pack.  She wants to be a leader next year, but I would be in charge.  Holey cow!  So this year I’m basically being groomed to be in charge for next year, and I’m sure I’ll be a pain in Tina’s ass as I try to shadow her in just about everything.  Is she really sure I can do this?  I guess so!  She told me in the middle of the group committee meeting on Monday, and I can’t believe no one looked over when I went all “WHAT?!”

Third big thing?  Wait, no, that’s all that’s really happened.  I’m not upset over Pepper and that lady anymore, though I did figure out why I was so upset.  I think it was more feeling incompetant of taking care of her and training her, because when she jumped all over that lady, it was like we were back where we were a year ago when I first got her.  But after taking a day to chill, and spending time at my house alone with her, I found that she really is a good dog.  yeah, she jumps all over people.  But that’s manageable.  And she was off at the dog park, so it’s not like I was doing anything wrong, and really, Pepper can’t learn to behave in that environment if she’s never in that environment.  That being said, I think we’re going to stay away from the dog park for a while anyways.  And not only because I don’t want to get up early to take her and because she absolutely needs a bath when we get home.  (She really does.  She’ll be covered head to toe in mud.)

Mike (from Scouting, Tina’s son) is supposed to come over on Friday to paint my cabinets for $20.  Hooray.  Whether he sticks with it for the 4 coats (2 primer, 2 paint.) is unknown, but even if he just helps with 2 would be a huge help.  This does mean, however, that I’ll have to take off all the cabinets and scrub them tomorrow.  Which is probably ok, because even though I’ve been at my parents for the heat wave, it’s supposed to cool down by friday, so if I go home after dinner tomorrow, I should have enough time to do all that before bed.

Interupting that thought, Pepper just DESTROYED my new shoes I bought for the funeral.  They were strappy sandals, but dressier, and I could’ve warn them tons.  I left them on the mat at the front door because I thought we were past this.  Apparently not.  Crap.  Think I’ll go mourn the loss of my new shoes, and remind myself that I have to pay condo fees and therefore can’t buy yet another pair of new shoes, especially since I still need runners for cubs in 2 weeks.
